Duels
What is Duels?
Duels is a PressBookie Live feature that lets two groups playing at different tee times compete head-to-head in a real-time Nassau side game. One group creates a Duel and shares a 6-digit code — the other group joins and both rounds link instantly. Scores sync hole by hole, auto-presses included, with full settlement at the end.
How do I start a Duel?
Make sure you have player names set up on the Settings tab first. Then tap the Live tab → Start a Duel. Choose your format (Singles, 2-Man, 3-Man, or 4-Man), enter your team name, select your players, set your Nassau bet amounts, and tap Create Duel. You'll get a 6-digit code to share with the opposing group before they tee off.
How do I join a Duel?
Tap the Live tab → Join a Duel, enter the 6-digit code shared by the other group, confirm your team name and players, then tap Accept Challenge. Both rounds will link and the Duel begins. You can also tap the Duel challenge link shared via iMessage or text to open the app and pre-fill the code automatically.
What formats does Duels support?
Singles (1v1), 2-Man (2v2), 3-Man (3v3), and 4-Man (4v4). All formats use best ball scoring with handicaps applied automatically.
Does Duels require PressBookie Live?
Yes — Duels is a PressBookie Live feature and requires an active subscription. You can start a 14-day free trial from the Live tab.
What happens if I forfeit a Duel?
Tapping Forfeit ends the Duel for both groups immediately. This cannot be undone. Any in-progress scores and results are discarded. Settlement is between the groups — PressBookie does not enforce or collect any amounts.
Does PressBookie handle Duel payouts?
No. PressBookie tracks scores and calculates who owes what, but all financial settlement happens offline between the players. PressBookie does not process, hold, or transfer any money.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share my round with friends?
Tap Start New Round on the Settings tab. Once the round is active, use the share bar at the top of the app to copy your round link or share it directly. Friends can follow along live without downloading anything.
My scores disappeared — what happened?
PressBookie saves everything locally on your device. If you cleared your browser data, reinstalled the app, or switched browsers, local data will not carry over. Live round data in Firebase is also automatically deleted after 48 hours.
How does PressBookie Live work?
PressBookie Live is an optional paid subscription that lets you broadcast live video during your round. Tap Go Live on the Match tab, allow camera and microphone access, and your stream will be available to anyone with your round link.
How do I cancel my PressBookie Live subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple App Store or Google Play. Go to your device's subscription settings to cancel at any time. You'll retain access through the end of your current billing period.
Can I use PressBookie without an internet connection?
Yes — scoring, match tracking, and payout calculation all work fully offline. Live sharing and PressBookie Live require an active internet connection.
Why is my stream choppy or buffering?
Live streaming requires a stable cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Golf courses often have limited signal coverage. For best results, ensure you have at least 3–4 bars of 4G/5G signal before going live. The app will display a warning if your connection weakens during a stream. Viewers on poor connections may also experience buffering — this is a network limitation, not an app issue.
My stream dropped mid-round — what happened?
Stream drops are almost always caused by a loss of cellular signal on the course. The app will display a reconnecting message if this happens. Try moving to an area with better coverage and tap Go Live again to restart the stream. Your round data and scores are unaffected by a dropped stream.
How do I report a bug?
Email us at support@pressbookie.com with a description of what happened, your device and OS version, and any screenshots if possible. We take bugs seriously and turn fixes around quickly.
